St. John Lutheran School
St. John Early Childhood Center
We joyfully offer families a loving Christ-centered environment in which young children are nurtured as they grow spiritually, intellectually, socially, emotionally and physically.

Classrooms
Each classroom is equipped with its own bathroom and sink area for the children and a counter and large sink area to assist teachers in conducting class projects. Separate carpeted and tiled areas allow for versatility in classroom activities.
Not only does each classroom provide excellent physical amenities, but each classroom also provides a loving and encouraging environment for your child. Our teachers are well prepared to help your child grow and learn and are dedicated to the Christ-like values our preschool represents.
Facilities
St. John's campus offers excellent areas in which to play and learn. Our facilities include 14 classrooms, a library, a large central meeting room for use during school-wide or large scale activities, two state-of-the-art playgrounds, and a gymnasium.
Screening
Hearing and Vision screening are done during the year for four and five year olds by a trained individual.
Library
Our library is filled with a broad range of student literature, listening activities, teacher resources, puppets and other valuable learning tools. The children visit the library each week for story-time and to read books. The older children and parents can check out books from the library.
Chapel
Each class attends a chapel service in the church once a week. One of the ministers or church staff re-tells the weekly Bible story and greets the children. This is an opportunity for children to worship and praise our Lord and Savior.
Music & Motor Skills
The children have a music and motor skills class daily. During this time children experience singing, rhythm and listening activities. Also included are activities that improve fine and gross motor coordination, creative movement and expression.
Spanish
We offer Spanish lessons to all the children with a fun filled curriculum and a trained Spanish teacher. Through song and play, the children develop a love for learning language.
Curriculum
Integrating faith into the school day is the main focus of our school. We use the Voyages religious curriculum it focuses on a different Bible story each week.
The teachers team-teach and work together to plan centers and activities.
The academic curriculum, The Letter People, uses a thematic approach that focuses on phonemic awareness. Language, science, math, social skills. Small and large motor skills are all integrated into the lessons. All are developmentally appropriate for young children. A Christian atmosphere of approval and nurturing provides opportunities for creative growth experimentation and development of the individual.
Parent Conferences
Toward the end of the year, every child is scheduled for a parent-teacher conference. Teachers are also available through the year if the need arises for a conference.
Bridge Class
The bridge program is a class for children who turn five by September 1. It is for children who are already five, but need an extra year of preparation for kindergarten. This extra year provides children with an opportunity to excel when they go to kindergarten.
Field Trips
Our preschool offers several field trips throughout the year for ages three and up. Each field trip is fully chaperoned, including opportunities for parents to participate. The children really enjoy learning about God's wonderful world in various places around the community. Two-year-olds have in-house field trips such as the scarecrow festival and Spring picnic.
