Women's Ministry at St. John

Women's ministry at St. John is an intergenerational ministry, committed to supporting and equipping women in their faith and ministries for Christ.

We believe that women have a very significant role to play in the advancement of God's Kingdom. There are many opportunities for women to fellowship, grow spiritually, and have opportunities to serve.

Lutheran Women’s Missionary League – Ladies of all ages meet the first Thursday of the month at 7 pm in the Administrative Center.   The meeting includes a time of fellowship, devotion, and business.  This group’s goal is primarily to support missions.  St. John’s annual turkey supper is their biggest fundraiser (held in October)  that allows them to support many mission projects. Dorcas Guild- This group of ladies meet on the first Thursday of the month at 9:30am in the Fellowship Center.  Their primary focus is also missions.  They partner with the LWML group on the Turkey Supper.  One of the big projects of this group is their quilting they do for missions.

Women’s Bible Studies – Studies are offered during various times including daytime and night.  These studies are typically very specific for women, to help women grow in their relationship with their Savior, with family, and brothers and sisters in Christ.  The times and titles of these studies will vary so please check the Adult Bible study offerings.

Annual Women’s Retreat- St. John offers this retreat once a year.  Women gather and spend two nights at Heartland Country Inn in Brenham, Texas.  The retreat is filled with laughter, time in the Word, and opportunities to get to know other women. The event has a theme each year and the speaker and activities are built around the theme.  This is typically held in February. 

Women Fellowship Events – Periodically social events for women are planned such as fellowship nights such as Bunco, Wine and Cheese Night, dinner and a show , Advent –Let Your Life Shine for Jesus dessert and fellowship, Celebration of Women, and other various events.  The dates and times of these can be found in the current events schedule.
