Kenya Ablaze Mission Effort

Kenya Mission Trip: When you heard about the group who went to Kenya last year, did you say to yourselves, “I’d like to try that!” Today you will have the opportunity to meet and greet Ray & Flora Tacquard, Mission Coordinators from Trinity Klein. They will be demonstrating the vision equipment following both worship services, and will also have information about the next trip to Kenya—April 19-29, 2012. There is still time to sign up and be a global missionary!

Abundant Life 201, February 12 @ 5 p.m. Administration Center AL-201 “Doorways” is a one-night Bible study offering an introduction to the “up, in out” triangle and St. John’s mission, Living and Sharing the Abundant Life of Jesus.  Pastor Bahn and other staff lead this event for all people who wish to become members of St. John – whether by transfer from another LCMS congregation or for those who have attended Abundant Life-101. Out of the Shadows Easter Cantata 2012: Do you like to sing in the shower or sing to the radio? Can you carry a tune in a bucket? We invite you to come be part of the music ministry here at St. John Lutheran Church! Please come join us for fellowship and fun as we start preparing the Easter Cantata “Out of the Shadows”, a powerful depiction of the last days of Christ up to his crucifixion. Rehearsals are each Wednesday night from 7 - 8:30 p.m. What a perfect way to serve God and the church. There is a great feeling lifting your voice to God in praise! Father Daughter Dance, Saturday, February 4, 5 – 8 p.m., $8 per dad, Fellowship Center, Gymnasium: Daughters bring your fathers to St. John Lutheran’s Ninth Annual Father Daughter Dance.  All ages are welcome. Pictures will be taken of each couple from 5 – 7 p.m. and will be available to take home that evening. We look forward to seeing you! (Dad’s, don’t forget to buy a corsage for your special girl!)

Dorcas Guild, Thursday, February 2, 2012 & February 16 @ 9:30 a.m., Ministry Center: Dorcas Guild is focusing their work and financial support on LINC projects and the mission work in Nepal through Pastor Meissner.   We continue to support Texas and World missions through LWML (Lutheran World Missionary League).   Your financial donations to these causes are greatly needed and appreciated. Altar Guild Meeting Tuesday, February 7 @ 7 p.m., Worship Center 101:  The Executive Board will meet @ 6 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend since we have a number of important issues to discuss. We encourage all ladies interested in joining or learning more about the Altar Guild to attend this meeting.  We are always looking for new members to share this very important and rewarding ministry with, especially as our congregation continues to grow.  Please contact Doris Pena at 281-373-9748 if you have any questions.

St. John Eagle’s Men’s Softball: Now that football season is coming to an end, it’s time to get out of your la-z-boy and back onto the softball field.  Games are played on Friday nights at Collins Park (Stuebner Airline at Cypresswood in Spring), and the first season (each are 6 weeks/12 games) begins play on Friday, February 10.  Estimated expenses will be around $50/season. The St. John Road Runners and Christ United Tagalongs invite Members and Friends Aged 55+ to a Valentine Social/Pot Luck , Saturday, February 11, 2012, Administration Center: Appetizers will begin at 4 p.m. Sign-up to bring Chili, Salad and Sides. We’re Wild About Krause! Lutheran Social Services is hosting the First Annual Healing Hearts Benefit on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at The Houston Zoo.  The safari celebration will include dinner, live and silent auctions, and lots of fun!
