Registration for Volunteers for Power Lab 2008, this year's VBS, is online! To Register, please CLICK HERE TO VOLUNTEER. Just click on the Volunteer Registration Form to register as a Volunteer. If you have children attending VBS, please register them at the time you register as a Volunteer. Participant registration is the link you select on the VBS website to register your child.
Register Your Child for VBS: Registration for Power Lab 2008, this year’s VBS, is online! CLICK HERE TO REGISTER. Please click on participant registration. St. John does not charge for VBS but suggests a $10 donation to help cover the cost. If you choose to make a donation please drop it by the church or send it to St. John Lutheran Church, 15235 Spring Cypress Rd. Cypress, Texas 77429. Attention: VBS.
VBS Meeting for Leaders on Thursday, May 15: A meeting for leaders, which includes everyone except the “assistants”, will take place. We will meet in the Administration Center from 7 to 8 p.m.
New Director for the Early Childhood Center: Following a prayerful and deliberate search for the new director of St. John Early Childhood Center, God has led us to Karen Schulz. Karen will begin her duties as the new ECC Director on June 1. When you see Karen, please welcome her to her new ministry position at St. John ECC.
Congregational Luncheon and Voters’ Meeting: Sunday, May 18, there will be a luncheon for all members at noon in the Fellowship Center with the bi-annual Voters’ Meeting to follow. Elections will take place for a portion of the church council. All members 18 years old and upare eligible to vote.
St. John Roadrunners are planning to visit the Houston Zoo on Friday, May 9. Watch for more details! Contact Levern Smith at 281.255.2389 with questions. Departure will be from Christ United Church at Telge and Huffmeister. Deadline to sing up will be May 4.
Golf Tournament: Come join us for an afternoon of golf, fun and fellowship to help raise money for the Youth’s mission trip. The trip will be made to help people in need. The tournament is Saturday, May 17, at Longwood Golf Course, 13300 Longwood Trace, Cypress, Texas 77429. It will be a scramble, open to everyone at St. John as well as friends and family. You may sign up individually or as a foursome. The cost is $75 per person, which includes green fee, cart and a dinner afterwards. There will be awards presented and a fun, live auction during dinner. Each golfer will receive a coupon good for a free round of golf at each of the following courses: Longwood, Bear Creek, Tour 18 and Southwyck, as well as a 30-day Player's Pass. The annual St. John Family Campout will be at Inks Lake State Park on Memorial Day weekend, May 23-26. If you are interested in camping, please make reservations as soon as possible as sites will fill. Reservations can be made at the Texas State Park website. We will have a camping meeting in early May to finalize plans. Any questions, contact Emily Schlobohm or Lisa Henney.
Men's Retreat - AGES 18 TO 90 - Annual Men's Retreat Bible study & fellowship – golf, fishing, or just relax at camp with dominoes, washers, etc.

Covered shelters are available. Campsites are also available with or without all utilities. Each party must make their own reservations at Park Reservation Telephone Number: 1.512.389.8900 or website: www.tpwd.state.tx.us. Plenty of spaces are available at this time, but that changes fast. Women’s Retreat: St. John will be having their 2nd annual Women’s Retreat September 12-14 at Heartland Country Inn in Brenham, TX. This year’s theme is “Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World”. Registration forms are available in the back of the church and the gym. When you complete your registration, please give it to Rhonda Mohr or send it to the church office.
