Adult Study - Sunday Morning
Option #1 – Understanding Islam – Taught by Eric Kamran – Administration Building.
This power packed Bible Study will help you understand the religion of Islam and what challenges that presents to today's Christians.
Option #2 – LIFE Groups – meeting in the Gym
If you have signed up for a LIFE Group, simply go to the gym and we’ll direct you to your group’s table. We’ll have a 30 minute large group Bible Study, followed by a 30 minute small group discussion and prayer time. Navigator groups for our new members will also meet at the same time and place. The current study is Little Known Characters of the Old Testament.
If you have NOT signed up for a LIFE Group, but want to check it out, we’ll have several “open” tables where you can simply come for a week to try it out and see if this is something you want to do on a regular basis.
Option #3 – Join the Journey - Creation through Revelation Adult Bible Class – meeting at 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary
Walk through the Bible in a year with Pastor Schultz. This new Bible Study will begin on Sunday, March 4, at 11 a.m. in the church sanctuary. A notebook containing the materials will be provided for you with weekly reading assignments. The class will begin with prayer, have a time for praise reports, and an overview of the reading of the past six days. Pastor Schultz will highlight two passages of critical importance and there will be time for discussion. Join this journey and watch the study of scripture make a profound impact on your life. If you have any questions regarding the study contact Pastor Schultz or Rhonda Mohr, 281.373.0503.
Bible Study and Sunday School at 11 a.m.
Rhonda Mohr is exploring the idea of offering a Sunday school hour at 11 a.m. for families who would like to worship as a family at the 9:30 a.m. service. This would allow parents to attend Pastor Schultz’s “Join the Journey – Creation through Revelation” Bible study and allow their children to have a Sunday school hour. If you would be interested in this opportunity for your children, please email Rhonda Mohr at rmohr@stjohn-lutheran.net or phone the church office and talk with Rhonda.

Sunday School – Age 18 months To Grade 12: Sunday School classes meet regularly in the Children’s Ministry Center: Ages 18 months – 3rd grade; and in the Fellowship Building: 4th – 12th grades. Sessions begin at 9:30 a.m. and conclude at 10:40 a.m.
We really enjoy meeting children who are visiting or coming to Sunday School for the first time. Parents are encouraged to bring their children into the Children’s Ministry Center and speak with the Sunday School Superintendents seated at the front desk. They will get you acquainted and connected with the appropriate class and its location.
Our Sunday School classes use the Life in Christ Curriculum published by Concordia. Each class studies the same Bible story on a given morning. In the Fall the Bible stories come from the Old Testament. From December through May, the Bible stories come from the New Testament.
Throughout the year our Sunday School program promotes through memory work, songs and group activities the books of the bible, Lord’s Prayer and additional Bible verses.
Children are recognized for good attendance and for memory work. An important part of our Sunday School program is mission projects which are supported through offerings and donations of articles depending upon the mission.
Monthly teacher meetings are held on the fourth Saturday of almost every month from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Church Library
The St. John Lutheran Library extends to you the use of our resources.
What does the Library contain?
Over 1,200 books covering ethics, biographies of religious
figures, devotions, Bible study materials, Christian fiction, classic fiction, nonfiction, collections for children, teacher resources and videotapes including the “Great Courses” series. There is a section containing literature, books and videos from Thrivent, which are free for the taking.
Where is the Library located?
The Library is in the Adult Ministry Center (formerly Education Building) next to the nursery.
When and How May I Use the Library?
The Library may be used during the week whenever the church building is open, on a self-serve basis. It will also be available on Sunday mornings from 8:00 until noon. Books are arranged according to the Dewey classification system. The card catalog is currently being input into our recently donated computer and will be a work in progress for a while. Please bear with us. Searching for material will be available by author, title and subject.
All materials may be borrowed from the Library. They are due one month after their checkout date. Make your selection, remove the card found in front of the book (in most cases), write your name and checkout date on the card. Then place the card in the small file box located on the shelf near the book returns.
Returning the material is easy. Place the material on the shelf marked “Book Returns”.
Linda Collins and Pam Panettiere serve as our volunteer Librarians. You may contact Linda during the week by e-mail at thecollins@houston.rr.com; Pam at Pampan1@aol.com.
Donations for a memorial, an anniversary or celebration are always appreciated, either in the form of a monetary gift or the materials themselves. See our “List of 1,000 Books” for ideas.
Suggestions for acquisitions are always appreciated as well.
