Music Ministry at St. John

St. John offers a variety of music programs and ministries that you may be interested in becoming involved. Our mission is to assist the Pastor in introducing the living Lord Jesus Christ to people of our church, community and world. Because Jesus gave His very best for us, we strive for excellence in all we do for Him. Please see the list below of our music programs:

Juniors for Jesus

A children’s choir for Grades 4-8. This choir sings once or twice a month at the beginning of our Sunday services.
Rehearses:  Saturdays, 10:00-10:45 a.m. in the church choir loft.

Instrumentalists

Brass, woodwinds, strings, soloists, duets, small ensemble groups for traditional worship services.
Rehearses: Saturdays (different groups rehearse between the hours of 10:45 a.m. and 1 p.m.).

Voices of St. John Choir

An adult vocal choir for people grade 9-adults that sing twice a month at the Sunday 8 a.m. and beginning of 9:30 a.m. services.
Rehearses:  Wednesday, 7-8:30 p.m. in the church choir loft.

Praise Band & Singers

Grade 9-adult Instrumentalists--guitarists, drummers, saxophone & keyboardists, plus singers who lead the 11 a.m. Sunday NewSong Service.
Rehearses:  Thursday, 7-9 p.m. in the gym.

Handbells

Grade 9-adult, ability to read music is helpful.
Rehearses: as needed. This is presently an ensemble group, not a full choir.

Men’s & Women’s Choirs

Single event choirs that sing three or four times a year. Take home a CD and music, then come to a half-hour rehearsal.

Drama

People of all ages who love to act and praise God through their actions. In addition to one or more big drama production during the year, there will also be short dramatic sketches from time to time preceding the message on Sundays. THIS MINISTRY NEEDS A VOLUNTEER DIRECTOR.

Audio Visual Ministry

People Grade 9-adult who are either gifted in listening to music critically or people who love to run
a video camera for worship. People who enjoy setting up sound or cameras for worship are also invited.
Traditional Service AV Team - 7:15-10:35 a.m. Sundays on a rotating basis. Serves Sundays at the 8 and 9:30 a.m. services.
NewSong Service AV Team - 7-9 p.m. Thursdays in the gym, then serves the next Sunday at the 11 a.m. NewSong Service.
Both Teams serve on a rotating schedule.

Worship Support Ministry Helpers

People who copy CD’s, create Powerpoint worship slides, catalogue music, fold bulletins, and do other organizational work for the worship ministry of St. John.
